The Process

Whether you are an experienced buyer of bulk beef  or this is your first time purchasing, our goad it to make your experience

simple and easy:  Just give me a call, place an order, and I'll deliver your beef when its ready. It's that simple.

I'll try my best to answer any questions you have at any time during the process. I strive for great customer service ... and personally delivering your beef to your door is just one of the ways I exemplify my commitment to customer service. If you want a tour of my place, want to see your steer, my cow/calf operation, or just want to meet me .... I'll try and make it happen.

You are purchasing a share of a live steer, but I'll take care of all the details ...raising, feeding, growing, more feeding, and finishing the steer. I schedule the processing details, deliver your steer to the processor, make sure it is inspected by either a USDA inspector or a State of Texas inspection. I'll pay the processing charges on your behalf, pick up your beef, and deliver it to your door.

Grass-finished or Grain-finished?

All cattle eat grass just about all of their lives (that's how God made them). It's only in the finishing phase (the last 120-150 days) that some steers are finished on a diet that consists of cereal grains (corn, oats, wheat, and/or barley) while others are finished on a continued diet of grass. At North Texas Beef, I'll finish out the steer you purchase either way... grass or grain.

My grain-finished steers are finished out on a pelleted grain ration consisting of corn, oats, wheat, and barley, along with as much hay, salt, minerals, and freshwater as the animal desires.  My grass-fed steers are finished on 7-8 day old fresh grass sprouts (known as fodder). To the best of my knowledge, no one else finishes out beef steers using this method, which has yielded beef full of tenderness and flavor. Grass-finished animals also have free access to day, salt, minerals, and fresh water.
